I have been knitting and sewing for many years (since I was a kid). I remember making doll clothes for my stuffed animals and Barbies, moving on to dresses and handbags when I was in Jr High and High School.
I learned how to knit as a child, but didn’t really get excited about it until my 20’s, when I was in London and discovered lovely yarn shops and a copy of Vogue Knitting. Wow, a whole new world just opened up. I still use patterns but often end up veering off them, sometimes intentionally, mostly becaus of gauge and fit. Not everything I’ve made is the way I envisioned it, but sometimes I’ll surprise even myself and the project will come out just as planned. (Sigh of relief….)
I have a closet full of yarn that someday will get structure and form…until then, I collect patterns, go on Ravelry, look at magazines and books. Endless good times! I have also tried my hand at quilting, and have posted a few examples of my designs. I have to admit, sewing for hours on end bores me. I’m eternally grateful to my mother who lovingly and patiently does most of the sewing and quilting. Bless her! =D
